Maria & Bruno.
The Club plans to develope training and other events on our
meeting night so check the web site
DIVE EVENTS if there is training or an
event at some other location.
Social Hour starts at 6:30 p.m. with greetings,
dinner and visiting. The meeting begins at 7:15. Upcoming activities and dive
trips are discussed as well as recently completed trips. We usually have a guest
speaker with slides or video on various topics involving diving, equipment, and
the ocean environment. We have had demonstrations on technical, cave, kayak,
rebreathers, free diving, and local or foreign travel. At the end of each meeting
the club raffles new dive equipment of all types, with a
special "thirdly raffle" every three months.

HISTORY

Jan Posten and Clarke Skinner formed the Santa Clarita Dive Club in July
1988. Clarke was a Department Manager at the Santa Clarita Sport Chalet,
then on Lyons Avenue and Wiley Canyon. The club was started to promote
diving in the SCV area. The club started with 25-members and has grown to a
peak of 150-members. The clubs first logo (very similar to today) was first
designed by Gill & Kathy Rendon in the fall of 1988. The first meeting was at
Shakey's Pizza in Saugus, which is no longer there.
